The Scotland Project is hard at work improving profiles for our Scottish Ancestors and we would love you to join us!  The Project covers all things Scottish, so no matter what you interests are, there's a team waiting for you!

You'll begin with a journey down our new Tartan Trail (you can learn more about it here) where you'll not only improve and/or learn new skills, but will also meet new people and learn to work within an active, collaborative WikiTree community.  Once you've completed the Tartan Trail, you'll be invited to join other teams within the project that interest you.

Membership Information

If you are new to WikieTree and have not become a full member you will need to upgrade to Wiki Genealogist Level and sign our Honor Code to receive your wiki genealogist badge, which is a necessity for editing profiles.  Full details can also be found on the Scotland Project  home page.  This will also give you a time line of what to expect from the Tartan Trail

To start your journey, post an ANSWER below!

I would like to join the Scotland Project to further my knowledge about my Scottish ancestors.  From Ayrshire their last names are Martin, Osborne, Currie, Murdock, Muir, Gilmour and others.  Also Patrick McDonald that I have not been able to trace back from his birth in Hartford, Connecticut in 1822 to Scotland.  Any help would be appreciated.

My ancestors are very firmly rooted in Scotland, especially Ayrshire. My DNA results show I have mainly Scottish and Irish DNA. Only one highlander so far.
I spend a lot of my time collaborating with fellow researchers.

Most commom names in my tree are Boyd, Miller, Anderson, Marshall, Ramsay, Kerr and Currie.

Hi Jackie,

Recently, I am mostly (there is so much) interested in the Y-DNA of the Lords (Earls, Dukes etc.) of the Hamilton Family in Scotland, their families, close relations, social interactions, ancestors and descendants. Seems to be some controversy concerning pedigree which I think is interesting, serious, but, well, with possibly a bit of comedy. Many of my great-grandfathers and mothers were from Scotland. Unfortunately, there was a stop put on publishing the ancestry of some of them because of one book and possibly personal wishes and/or opinions.

I am interested in joining the Scottish Project/Tartan Trail. I’ve been researching in Argyll for 20 years having McMillan, McCallum, Stalker, Morrison, McTavish/Thomson, Fletcher and Campbell roots.

Hi I would like to join the Scotland Project Team.

Thru my 9th G grandmother Lucretia Boyd of Boyd of Trochrig it seems my ancestors include the Boyds of Kilmarnock, Colvilles of Ochiltree, Kennedy's of Denure, Gordons of Huntly, Chalmers of Gadgirth, Campbells of Loudon and Cunninhams of Caprington.

I have only just discovered Lucretia's connections and so have much work to do but am unable to link her to her ancestors as I am not yet  pre1500 certified.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

I have Scottish roots most definitely. My maternal grandmother, Jessie Webb was born in Greenock. The surnames associated with Scotland and Ireland so far that I have are Edwardson, McIntyre also spelled Macintyre, MacIntyre by some family records, Calderhead & Clark. Thank you.

Hi,  Would love to join this project.  I've been researching the families of the Highlands and the Northern Isles for quite some time and was made a fellow of the Society of Antiquaries (Scotland) for my work.  My own particular family hails from Caithness (for the most part).  Surnames being Sinclair, Gunn, McKay, Sutherland as the major ones, but there are many others.  I used to run the Sinclair one name study as well.
Cheers.

My Grandparents both on my dads side are from Scotland! Also, I traced both grandparents on my  mother’s side back to Ireland then Scotland. We go to Scottish festivals about 5 times a year, plus many Scottish events. We belong to Clan groups, my husband is VP right now for Clan Douglas and has run the Douglas Clan Booth at fests for 20 years. I do keep working on my family tree and keep adding to it! Not a whole lot of time or money so do what I can! Mary

All my family on both sides are from Scotland for at least 5 generations. I have a lot of names and dates but not much source material which I would like to research and just get more involved with Scotland
