The Scotland Project is hard at work improving profiles for our Scottish Ancestors and we would love you to join us!  The Project covers all things Scottish, so no matter what you interests are, there's a team waiting for you!

You'll begin with a journey down our new Tartan Trail (you can learn more about it here) where you'll not only improve and/or learn new skills, but will also meet new people and learn to work within an active, collaborative WikiTree community.  Once you've completed the Tartan Trail, you'll be invited to join other teams within the project that interest you.

Membership Information

If you are new to WikieTree and have not become a full member you will need to upgrade to Wiki Genealogist Level and sign our Honor Code to receive your wiki genealogist badge, which is a necessity for editing profiles.  Full details can also be found on the Scotland Project  home page.  This will also give you a time line of what to expect from the Tartan Trail

To start your journey, post an ANSWER below!

I'm interested in joining the scotland project.  Areas of interest are Fife and East Lothian. Born in Paisley, bought up in Glasgow and currently living in East Lothian. Maternal ancestors mainly from East Lothian and Fife, Paternal ancestors from Shetland, Argyll, and Glasgow.
Thank you, Jackie
I would like to join the project. I have Scottish roots for sure. My maternal grand mother was born there and her father I believe was also born either Scotland or Ireland. Names, Edwardson, McIntyre (Macintyre), Calderhead, just to make a few. Thank you.

Hello,

I am interested in this project. My family is from Ireland and Scotland; the Scotland side includes surnames Brown and Ford. Robert Brown born about 1800 in Newton-on-Ayr, and Catherine Ford, born about 1803 in Newton-on-Ayr. I have Robert's parents as William Brown and Margaret Hunter, married 9 Ferb 1798 in Ochiltree, Ayrshire, Scotland. Thank you

Scots Wha Hae...!

Before joining WikiTree, I have previously traced my ancestry back to about 1600 on two lines (Turpy and Mawer) and to the early 1700s for Rutherford - so far, all have been Scots, as I am myself. Apart from these names, the main areas of my interest are Fife, Angus, Perthshire and Stirlingshire. I would be happy to help where I can.

Hello - I will apologise if this is a repeat of an answer that I gave, or tried to give, yesterday but now I cannot see!

I have completed detailed research into my family tree, taking two lines back to c1600, all my ancestors being Scottish, as I am myself. My sources are all based on the National Records for Scotland (I am professionally versed in rules of evidence, and I fully understand the need for cross-references, etc). My results are currently held in a spreadsheet of my own design and a narrative family history which I have written.

I have also experience in WW1 military records, from a project in an English village.

I would be very happy to help others within a project, especially in areas where I have previous experience.

Hello! I would love to join this project! My maternal great grandfather(CLARK)  was from Johnshaven, Scotland on the east coast, in Aberdeenshire. I am very interested in learning more about the Clark family. My great great grandfather left Johsnhaven for America but all of his siblings remained in Johnshaven or the surrounding area.

I am interested in joining the Scottish project. My Ancesters came from Tulliallan, which is now Kincardine on the Forth, Perthshire. Thomas Carmichael went to work in Glasgow and then Edinburgh with a Blacksmith and became a Coach Builder. He married the Blacksmiths daughter and decided to move South with his family and brother in Law. Thomas and James walked from Edinburgh to Worcester, with the wife and children sitting on the cart. They both worked for McNaughts in Worcester, who were a large Coach Builder.
