I am looking for info on my grandparents Evan Thomas Day and Lulu Alzina Frank (Drake) Day.

Question

I am looking for information on my paternal grandparents.  

My grandfather was Thomas Evan Day, he immigrated from Scotland to the US (via, germany, South Africia and Australia).  He entered the US thru Treasure Island in California.  I do have some information about his family, but, there are lots of Thomas or Evan Day's from Edinburgh in that timeframe I am looking at.

My paternal grandmother is much more of a brick wall.  It is believed that she was born in California around 1873.  My father told me that she and her 2 brothers were placed in an orphanage when she was rather young.  She remarried and the children were not wanted, so they were sent to an orphangage.  I believe that her mother was Gertrude Flowers who may have been born in Washington DC around 1850.  I can only find Some documents that I have list her birth name as Lulu Alzina Frank.  I have documents that she used the last name of Drake around 1900.

The research I have done showed that her brothers ended up in Washington state.  That at this point seems to be a dead end.

Any help, provided would be extremely appreciated.  This woman seems to be haunting me in as much as I believe her story needs to be told.  I would like to confirm (or disprove) the tales of her owning a "Boarding" house in Sonoma California.

Lulu Frank, 1880 United States Census, at Igo, Shasta, California.

She was 8 at the time of the census. Her estimated birth year is 1872. Her father was born in Ohio and her mother was born in the District of Columbia. Mother's name is Gertrude Frank age 29, Lulu's younger brothers were Arthur age 4 and Clayton age 1. All three children were born in California.
