Looking for my German ancestor Carolina Shultz

Looking for the marriage date and place of my ancestor Carolina Shultz, who married Henry Getz and was the mother of Zelma Etta Getz. Henry and Carolina Getz had at least four children: Zelma Etta Getz b. ca 1858, Max Henry Getz b. ca 1861, Hulda M. Getz b. ca 1863, Lina/Lillie B. Getz b. ca 1865.

In 1864, Henry Getz, 28, left his family behind and took passage on the ship Therese to New York City, USA. Three years later, Carolina Getz, 33, left Bremen, Germany in 1867 with her children on the ship Northern Light in order to join her husband Henry Getz in New York, then on to Pennsylvania.

The obituary for Zelma Etta (Getz) Shannon (my great-grandmother) said that she was born in Reinholdshain, Sachsen, and that the family lived at one point in Leipzig.

There are two Reinholdshain in Germany, both in Sachsen, one now a district of Glauchau, the other of Dippoldiswalde. For dates before 1872 (about) you need to look for church records. For protestants I would try Archion first, search should be free but actual record has a fee. If unsuccessful try the churches and ask where records are held.

And in Germany look for Schultz, not Shultz.

Hi Doug, it would make it easier for us to help you if you could add sources to the profiles you have already created, and give us the profile id of one. That way we could gain ideas from those profiles.
