Can you take a look at the sources found so far?

found at least 1 good source for everything BUT his military record... nothing under either name, nps.gov/.fold3/ familysearch.org... and so many prove the wikipedia.com bio  well,  wrong.  Please take a look and let me know what else, besides making it more understanding,  that I should do. And is he "Notable"  with what is there?

Wow. You may still be sorting out this one at the end of the year. In what year did he begin to use ADAMS rather than SCHWANBECK

I suggest a time-line for "Charles Adams" of those items you are reasonably sure refer to him; and a time-line for Karl Schwanbeck ditto -- this time-line may prevent two men from being conflated

Possible clues info -- Charles Schwanbeck - Historical records and family trees - MyHeritage

"Time-line",  I sort of already have going but will make it more defined.  and he had more than 1 brother, I found the same parents for 4 kids.. IF they are the correct parents,  but it looks like it matches  wikipedia.com BIO.. And found the newspaper Announcement to their marriage, 1873,  Denver..  QUESTION?? We have the military headstone for CHARLES ADAMS  in the Massachusetts Inf. Civil War, right?  So if he didn't change his name until after the war was over 1865 could he have had his military headstone put in his new name???  IF yes,  gads  AND I must be patient I email the SUV for their documentation for headstone.

laughI tested "Karl Schwanbeck" b. 1839/1847 in the entire USA of that period, but listing no birth location karl schwanbeck Search Results and it even lists Charles Schwanbeck

The results for "Karl Adams" were even more abundant karl adams Search Results

It's going to be fairly obvious to you yourself when read about these that some are not suitable; others may need to be looked at more closely

This Charles Adams is a Notable on wikipedia.com  so I am  taking all of their data and bringing it over to wikitree.and finding/adding more sources to their data.  We know he was born in Prussia, in 1845.  the 1870 census gives us that and he was living with the Territorial Governor. There are almost 100 newspaper articles on this guy.   Not sure what you mean by looking at others.  And we know he was living in Bolivia, 1880-1882,  as the Ambassador for 2 years.
ok,  question?  could the person who ordered his Civil War headstone for the Massachusetts 6th/ 21st  managed to have his name put on "Charles Adams"  when he served in 1861-1865??  and didn't meet his wife until 1870????
since this is ancestry  I can not  access  it, sorry...
ancestry is not accessable,  sorry
this is not our Charles  this guy I traced to  be born in Massachusetts  and died  1925  Minnesota.  I made a profile and linked them  so we would not get confused
the military headstone is  6th Mass. Inf.    and the 21th Mass.  Inf   only... and the Charles Adams  in the Mass 6th 100day  is not him,  sorry,  thank you for your  hard work
okay

I'll hide my comments so others don't get cofused

There was 1 Carl Schwanbeck that fought in the Civil War. In the 9th Wisconsin Infantry, Co. K and B. There is only a cover sheet record. It does have some information on it. There are 2 pension records and a memorial page on Fold3.

I could not find a Charles Adams in the 21st Mass. There were almost 300 hits for Charles Adams in Mass. during the Civil War. None of them were in the 21st Infantry unless his record was lost or misplaced also possible.

I believe if he changed his name after the war the name he had when he died would be used. When people are buried their current surname is used. His family would have been the ones to notify the Veterans Administration.

thank you,  yeah none of us can find a Charles Adams born Prussia 1840 that served in either the 6th or the 21st...Mass. Inf.  that has to be it,   the family applied and asked for his current name.  Like how many MEN change their names?  not many.  so we will have to wait for the SUV to find the documentation on the  headstone in Colorado.  thank you.  good job
