And yet appear on the profile? { Edit: I wish it to appear on the right side]

It seems that if I unclick the 'thumbnail' it doesn't show. Or? what else am I doing wrong?

Not sure if this is the reason, Benjamin, but scroll to the bottom of the image's edit page and see if it is set as a photo or a source (Image Type). You want it set as a source.

If it is currently set as source, then the problem is elsewhere.

Also, as Ron mentioned, you don't want it set as the primary photo.

Hi Tom,

If you want to display on a profile in the narrative but NOT on the right side of the page, you will need to

1) link the image to another profile or freespace page (N.B. images not linked to a profile or freespace get cleaned out after 30 days as I recall) and,

2} add [[Image:Chilcote-190-1.jpg|sizepx]]

I miss-stated my desire, I want the image on the right side of the profile, but not at a thumbnail on the top left.

I see what you are looking to do now... go to the edit image page and uncheck the box under set as primary photo in the right column

"uncheck the box under set as primary photo in the right column"

For reasons unknown, the first source image I uploaded to a family member's profile automatically set itself "as primary photo". I tried going back into edit, unchecking the box, and re-saving, but it won't remove the "primary photo" setting.

What you might try Tom is to use Rob's idea, but paste the photo in the desired size to a free space profile. Then then save the image from the freespace page, that is now in the desired size, to your computer & reupload it to the profile. It should then display where you want it in the size you want.

Thanks, Doug,I;ll try that.

I gave up, its there as a thumbnail.....

Doug, I don't think that will do anything.  When you specify the display width of the picture, that is ONLY the width at which it is displayed, but does not change the file size at all.  If you then download the picture from the freespace page, it will STILL be the same size it was before!

I agree. If you have imported a thumbnail, you might be able to enlarge the dots but it will still be a thumbnail containing limited information.
