No William N McCoy is James McCoy son :) that's the thing about the McCoys we all have the same name

And this was the area right in the middle of the famous McCoy-Hatfield feud. The "feud" started around the time of the Civil War. It was so intense that the governor sent in marshals, but a lot of them were killed also.

My Justice ancestors also settled that area during that time and many descendants still live there. There is a Justiceville, KY just south of Pikeville, and a Justice, VA. The Tug River separates those states, with most of the McCoys originally being on the VA side and most of the Hatfields on the KY side.

I have found records of marriages between the Justice family and both the Hatfields and McCoys.
