Parentage of Joan Moon (c 1649-1739)? Is her brother attached as father?

The parents attached to Joan Moon of Bucks County, Pennsylvania appear to lack documentation. She is not named as a daughter in the will of Samuel Burges attached as father. Davis' History of Bucks County postulates that she is the sister of Samuel Burges, not his daughter.

Absent any primary source documentation at this time, should she be removed as daughter of Samuel and made his sister with the notation that the relationship is based on secondary evidence?

It would appear she should be brought under the Penn Project (the husband already is so designated as is Samuel Burges).

Edit: it appears there are very serious issues with entire upstream Burgess lineage. Notations and links are found in Comments on the profiles and I have alerted England project.

our local historical society museum and archive reopen June 15. Hang in there, things are looking up on that front.
Of the dozens (and dozens) of Quaker ministers in my ancestry, about half were women even back to the advent of the Society of Friends. I've always thought they probably fared better than many women of earlier eras.
heavy sigh

anyway, if you're into deep digging

I can't get to it with my American cheap Ancestry but there is an entry for

John Burgess died 1694, mariner on the merchant ship Charles the Second

this is listed Calendar of Wills in the Prerogative Court of Canterbury
Mountainous thanks, Eddie. I will see what I can do with that info tomorrow. My eyes have given up for today.

I MUST HAVE FOOOOOOD !

haha

I made me an apple brown betty

you can't have any cheeky

How was the apply brown betty? There is an apple pie to make on my agenda today.

I found the will of the mariner John Burgess (of Ratcliffe, London Middlesex) Prerogative Court of Canterbury and Related Probate Jurisdictions: Will Registers; Class: PROB 11; Piece: 423  (subscription). If I read it correctly he has left everything to his wife Mary and names no children in the will. Unless Mary then predeceased him, I don't think Joan would have been inheriting anything if she is the daughter.

Horrors. I now see four or five wills for a John Burgess that fit the time parameter just in Middlesex. I think I will check in the north of England--perhaps more fertile ground for Quakers.

There's also a codicil to the mariner's will at Prerogative Court of Canterbury and Related Probate Jurisdictions: Will Registers; Class: PROB 11; Piece: 42 which mentions a brother Benjamin and son Thomas (but no Joan).

The Bucks county court record is probably with Mercer Museum library in Doylestown which I have now contacted for assistance.
