Looking for any information on either person. They are my paternal 2nd great grandparents. There is a family story that John Shedy/Sheady from Ireland wanted to enlist in the Civil War in Pennsylania at age 14 but was denied. He then assumed his mother or grandmother's maiden name of King, changed his age and was accepted where he was a part of Company B 19th Reg Inf in PA. I have been unable to find any records to prove or disprove this story. Also, I have nothing on his wife, Mary Devine other than her father was Chas/Charles,/Chaz Devine and that he mother may have had the surname of McClenahan. I am working on this night and day!! Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.
