Need help trying to figure out DNA cousins relationship to my family

Between all the kits I manage for my paternal side there are a decent amount of matches to our newly found Flanary cousins.

There are a lot of variations of Flanary which is to be suspected through the yrs and times. Some of the census records they are found as Flannery.

I need help with trying to figure out how they are related to me. i was thinking of trying to use process of elimination. I have thoughts but, I have worked on this for so long the past couple days that I need some fresh perspectives because my brain is a bit scrambled lol.

I believe my Flanary cousin my some how be connected to my Bell side or through 3rd Great Grandfather Andrew Lee Bell's father's mother side..

There are so many possibilities and directions to go in that I don't know where to start. Any advice is greatly appreciated thank you in advance.

Hi, Charmaine!

I've edited your tags to get the attention of others who follow those surnames as well as those who follow the DNA tag. This should draw a few more people to your post who can help.

Julie K (below) also brought to my attention that you are not a full-fledged member yet. We *just* changed the process for confirming a full membership -- still free, by the way laugh -- and I'm not completely familiar with that, but I'll get one of the Greeter Leaders to come and take a look and give you instructions on what to do to get fully confirmed.

In the meantime, if you want to learn how to include your ancestors here, start here: https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Help:How_to_Use_WikiTree

Good luck with your research!!

Thanks, Julie R.!

There are two options:  You can build your own tree, first identifying your ancestors, then their siblings and the siblings' descendants until you find the specific people who match you.  Or you can contact your matches and hope that they have already done the research and can tell you how you are related to them.

Or if neither you nor the matches have done the research, maybe they would be interested in working with you.  If each person builds their own tree, somewhere those trees should converge.

If you have a tree you can link to your DNA results, that will help your matches research the connections.

And make sure your matches can contact you if they are interested.  Respond to messages when people contact you.

Good luck!

P.S.  Here is a recent G2G thread where some tips were given to a DNA beginner:

I have my tree and I've use the information in each match trees to connect their DNA page to them in my tree. I added their respective lines. We still have no idea how we're related just that we are related. It's very tricky I just know which each line I add more matches pop and I know they are from Flanary and varies lines from that family, Thank you Julie
On WikiTree, it doesn't look to me like you've yet added ancestors.  Do you have a public tree somewhere else on-line?  If so, I'd be happy to take a look if you think I could be of any help.  And when you do get your ancestors added to WikiTree, others could see it too.  You might be surprised at how many people lurk around G2G just looking for people to help (but they need information in order to do it).
I have my tree on Ancestry. I still don't know how to really use wiki tree. I haven't been on here in years. you can email me.
Nice tree!  I see you have already done some of the things I suggested.  I will e-mail you with some additional ideas.
