I’m descendent of Gershom Gibbs first male child born in Litchfield Connecticut. He and his son Gershom fought in the battle of Fort Washington and  Died aboard prisoner ship Grosvenor I want to know if there is a connection with caleb Gibbs of Newport Rhode Island Born February 28, 1748, major continental army, commander of the commander-in-chiefs guard

I could not find anything on a Caleb Gibbs from Rhode Island on WikiTree. The Caleb Gibbs you have linked is the brother of Gershom Gibbs who died on the Prison Ship Grosvenor.

There is a Robert Gibbs on Find-A-Grave That may be the Robert you mentioned, but the Caleb Gibbs you are referring to is most likely not immediately related to Gershom Gibbs as far as I can tell.
