Best candidate family in the 1940 census:
James (33) & Aletha (35) Austin in Boardman, Mahoning Co., Ohio with children William (9), Virginia (6), James Jr (3), and Kenneth (1), all but Aletha (b PA) born Ohio. This implies a marriage of about 1930. The census indicates that in 1935 they were living in Poland, Mahoning Co., Ohio. James Sr.'s occupation was truck driver for a retail coal company.
In 1930, I find a single James Austin (21) living with his parents and siblings in Boardman. It's probably the same man, as his occupation is truck driver. His parents were William Austin (47, b Ohio) and Maude (____) (37, b Kentucky). Calculating their ages at marriages, they'd married 22 years previously (abt 1908). (Yes, Maude was 15 when she married.) William, the father, was a foreman in the steel mill.
In 1920, this family is also in Boardman, Mahoning, Ohio. William, the father, was a millright in a steel mill.
In 1910, they were in Steubenville, Jefferson County, Ohio. William D. Austin and Maude have been married 3 years (m1907); she lost one child by this time (2 births, 1 living-- James). William was an engineer at the steel mill.
That's as far as I could *easily* go.
