Welcome, Judy! I belong to ancestry also. WikiTree is a lot different. We are about establishing a single world tree rather than duplicating trees. In researching John Smith on ancestry, I might find him appearing in 200 separate trees. Here he appears only once. If those 200 people had profiles on WikiTree, they could all connect to John Smith, but still, he has only one profile. The other big difference is that we want each profile to have a valid source for birth, death, marriage, children, or whatever information we want to include in that profile. In ancestry, for example, it's not uncommon to find children named in a tree who was born after their parents died!
There's a learning curve, but to me, it's well worth it.
