How to locate entries in the Boston Evening Transcript pages

I just searched "Smith" in the AmericanAncestors database of the Boston Evening Transcript Genealogy Pages and thereby realized that the database has not been indexed by name.

The usual reference I get to the Boston Transcript is from an AGBI entry, which frustratingly gives the entry as a volume and page number. Is there an easy way to translate this volume and page into a date so I know where to look in the AmericanAncestors database and see an image of the original paper?

I don't have one in front of me, Barry, but I did a few days ago. The one I had, had a volume and page, but it also included a year and a date, and the item number. I think (but am not certain) the volume/page reference has to do with AGBI and not the BT. (It sounds as your AGBI did not have that extra data.) When i got to my correct page, I did not see any reference to a Vol/p.

Just checked the familysearch summary of the AGBI, and yep, the volume and page reference is to AGBI books. It did say that every entry had a citation, though.

Yes Jim, you are right. The volume/page is for the index, and I didn't realized that.
