Introducing The Original Forest Gump: Cdr. Edwin I. Carson -- (Carson-3653)

I have been working on tracking down information and proof to back up the wild stories about my dad's crazy unbelievable life, most of which was lived before I was born.  (He was 41 when I was born) And he had lived an unfathomable life before he married and became the father of six kids.  But it was almost as amazing afterwards with the incredible circles he moved in and places he went.  I only spent 14 short years with him, but have been able to track down some of the connections: FDR, JFK, Churchill, Emperor Hirohito, Gregory Peck, James Steward, Gov. Lloyd Bentsen of Texas, Lee Harvey Oswald....

My friends and people who knew him all swear that he was the original inspiration for Forrest Gump.  And I am not convinced that they are wrong!

Look at his WikiPage and see what you think.  It is still a work in process...

Here's the profile.

Interesting life for sure! The only comment I have is that his given name should be on the profile, with "Kit" as a preferred or nickname.

Thank, Rob. I will have to see if I can fix that somehow.  It bothers me too, but the default is set to only show the nickname for some reason once you add a nickname.  The first name is set for private and I can't figure out how to change it...

What an interesting and colorful life; thanks for sharing.  I've heard his name many times over the years but never knew who he was.  I may be making this up in my own head but I thought I had heard his name used in adjective form for someone who can get things done, "He's a regular Kit Carson."

He's actually related to the other Kit Carson.  I think they are fifth cousins.  The famous Kit's family branched off from ours and went down to North Carolina from central PA.  We just moved to western PA.  The less adventurous branch.  lol. Hunkered down for another hundred and fifty years or so - until my dad came along and got the itch to travel and see the world!
