Anyone familiar with this family offhand? Mary Walker, James Taylor & Sarah (Taylor) Powell

Question

I just postponed a merge. The merge for duplicates of James Taylor was rejected. Both couples have duplicate profiles for a daughter Sarah.

The name(s) ring a bell, but I won't have time to research them any time soon. I'm hoping someone else might be able to help in the meantime?

Those are Taylors Im descended from.  James Taylor was my first cousin 11x. his grandfather Thomas J Taylor II was my 11th ggf. So Sarah was my 2nd cousin 10x.

As the lead of the US Presidents project, these profiles, James Taylor and his first wife have been the subject of many, many discussions and a lot of research.   A quick look at https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Taylor-679 will give you some insight.   The issue is compounded by the commonality of his name and the confusion of those men over the years.

You may find with research that James Taylor was a surveyor in Virginia; and Father-in-law to Ambrose Madison. Ambrose was allegedly poisoned by 3 slaves. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ambrose_Madison

Ambrose Madison was Grandpa to James Madison Jr.-our 4th President. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Madison  His wife was Dolley Todd/Madison. Surprise!
