Honestly,  I've overwhelmed,
I noticed you're new to the G2G...

We  certainly have real people with incredible skills willing to answer specific questions.  But sorry,  we might not be able to solve all your family brick walls.

Since you're inquiring about  specific 1600s profiles, that might limit your responses considerably....  But don't give up on G2G help.   There are many skilled WikiTree members here to help with your technical issues, etc..... but we might not be able to settle genealogy  questions in the 1600's era profiles.

Since I'm first to respond,  I'm hoping someone else will prove me wrong!

Best of luck in your research!

Before tracing the line of very hypothetical parents, you should try to find his origin in France. The first place to look for it is a marriage record or contract. Some online genealogies have him marry Marie Bourgeois on 10 Apr 1670 in Port-Royal. Is there a primary source for that?

I can confirm that Pierre Sirre (with 2 r's) married Marie Bourgeois in 1670, signed the minutes of a meeting held on the 28 June 1670 related to the construction of a church in Port-Royal, and that he, his wife, and their 3-month old son (Jean) appear in the census dated 8 November 1671.

As for his past, since he spoke French, his origin would be France.  My research ends there.

I have no knowledge on how to proceed from here.  Who could I contact in France to try and seek out more information.  One other piece of information is that he was 24 years old at the time of his marriage to Marie Bourgeois; therefore born approx. 1644.

Hi Jean-Guy,

Maybe the Centre d’études acadiennes Anselme-Chiasson, Université de Moncton, could give you more information and contacts in France. You can write to them at cea-um@umoncton.ca

Indeed, "France" is a rather large place to search for those old records!  The sources for nearly all the information in the profile are Acadian censuses.  They do show he was married to Marie Bourgeois and they had children together.  But no marriage record, no parents mentioned in even our best secondary sources.  White uses only the censuses except for one record dated June 18, 1670 "Pierre Sirre signe l'accord des paroissens de Port-Royal sur la construction d'une église et le reglement des mesures (ANF, Col, E 277, Le Neuf) - this detail added to the profile for future reference.  White does not speculate on where he was born or when (his age is calculated from censuses).  Bona Arsenault says he came to Acadia in 1668, lived in Beaubassin and married in about 1670 (I'm sure also based on the ages of the children).  No sources were provided beyond the Arsenault citation itself (which is on the profile).  The original Beaubassin records we have start in 1679, so no help there.

Maybe start with the possible parents, go to those parish records and work down until you find a birth record for Pierre.  That would still not confirm it is THIS Pierre, but would bolster the case if he was born about 1644.

Also maybe see if you can find some ship arrivals to see if he was listed anywhere on a manifest, or came with parents.  Arsenault could have gotten that information from somewhere.
