Information uncovered recently has Jane Crawford married to William not John. Given that there are numerous McKenzie's in this area, I am looking for further information on siblings for William, and his father Murdoch Mckenzie. There are no birth records for either so assume they were born in Scotland and emigrated to Canada. However, passenger lists do not generate names of this family. Only possible match would be Pictou NS Prior to 1807.
Also Wm's father is Murdoch, also spelled Murdock, Murdick or just Murdo. He died in Nelson in 1838. He was married to Mary ( maiden name as yet unknown) and she remarried John Sherwood ( Sherwood is a family name in this area) and died in 1863. Also assume she is Scottish born, as there are no prior mentions in the arachives to date for her.
There is a land petitiion for the area dated 1807 in the name of Murdoch Mckenzie which is the time frame that he would have settled in the area.
Other people researching the area and Mckenzie name have indicated that there are at least 7 land grants for the area for Murdoch.
