How do I make a category for Simsbury, Ct?

+4 votes
Simsbury is one of the towns in Hartford Co.

I've looked, seen the page relative to making categories, but this old gray head can't understand it. I've got hunddreds of profiles born in Simsbury in the 17th century, I guess they all could be included. Several were instrumental in forming the community.

Nevermind, I figured it out. Shouldn't have asked the question.

Hi Tom,

Don't be afraid to ask.

The category should be [[Category:Simsbury, Connecticut]]. As you figured out, entering it a profile gives you a link to create it.

I notice you created "Simsbury, Ct" as the name, so we'll want to switch that to conform to the style we're using. I'll help.

Mmm... you exclude the county name? why's that?
Hi Jillaine. We want the category names to be as short as possible. Since there is only one "Simsbury, Connecticut" we don't need the county or country. They're assumed.
Hello Chris,

I am having trouble making consistent categories for County Cork. The jurisdictions are unique to Ireland with unusual names.

Do I want Ballinakilla Townland, Lisgoold Civil Parish, County Cork, Ireland or Ballinakilla, Lisgoold, Cork?

And what about for the corresponding free space profile? Should a full long name go there? I understand Cemeteries have long descriptive names. Does that hold true for other free space profiles that define localities?

Thank you in advance for helping me get this straight. I am in charge of the County Cork sub-project, and am categorizing most of the geography there.
