Should Isaac Justason be listed as a United Empire Loyalist?

Isaac was from the NewSweden area of New Jersey.  He joined the British in 1778, had his property confiscated and sold, and took his family to Beaver Harbour, New Brunswick after the British left New York.  He filed claims for his lost property.  He may have arrived on the “Camel.”

Is there a sticker or category that I should add to his profile?

Well done Karen, it is a terrific amount of work.

A cousin has recently successfully completed her application as a 4 x GGD of a previously certified Loyalist, that now paves the way for many other cousins to be approved as U.E.

He does not appear on the U.E.L. directory of the United Empire Loyalists' Association of Canada. I believe he does not qualify as UEL if he is not on their roll: The post nominals UEL are used for proven Loyalists.

The post nominals UE are used for descendants of the Loyalist ancestor.

He was definitely a Loyalist, has a lengthy claim detailed in the UK archives of Loyalist claims. Is there something unique about the UEL?
I thought it odd, Kathy, that the "J" listing ended with the surname "Julian". What is important is the ruling on the claim. The status of the claim needs to be "Proven" in order to qualify for the U.E.L. designation, which is an honorific awarded by England acting through the Governor of Quebec and Governor-General of the Canadas, Lord Dorchester. So yes, it is unique. The directory at UELAC is not "official" per se, it says that it is incomplete due to poor record keeping at the time the Loyalists were settling in Canada. There are only about 7,000 listed out of the 30-50 thousand who removed to Canada.
Any idea how to find out?  I see pages and pages of accounting and sworn statements but no determination.
