It looks like they moved to New Brunswick in the 1760’s long before the Revolutionary War.
The Acadians were kicked out by 1755 and the first (British) New England colonists arrived (mostly from Mass., some Ct. and R.I. settlers too) by 1760 with many families arriving by the mid 1760's.

Seems so far to be a lack of positive evidence
(Proposition: HE was a loyalist because he was in NB and his father was listed as a loyalist, therefore he was a loyalist),
but supportive statements for negative evidence
(Proposition: he is not listed in the rosters, therefore  ... and many others migrated to NB without also becoming loyalists)

I am of the opinion, which is to say if it were me and I was trying to decide, I'd decide against his being a known loyalist -- what may have been his private opinion or stance is not known unless someone found a journal or found letters where he asserted he was a loyalist ... in short in the lack of evidence he was a known loyalist, I'd have to say "No, not"

I think Susan has the gist of it. From Wikipedia: "United Empire Loyalists (or simply Loyalists) is an honorific which was first given by the 1st Lord Dorchester, the Governor of Quebec, and Governor-General of the Canadas, to American Loyalists who resettled in British North America[1] during or after the American Revolution."  So it seems the U.E.L. designation is an official one awarded by England.

The reason I ask is because his father James Frost jr is listed as a loyalist on the UEL directory . I knew the Frosts were one of the first pioneers of St Stephen

Should Isaac Justason be listed as a United Empire Loyalist? - WikiTree G2G

ANSWER He does not appear on the U.E.L. directory of the United Empire Loyalists' Association of Canada. I believe he does not qualify as UEL if he is not on their roll: The post nominals UEL are used for proven Loyalists.

The post nominals UE are used for descendants of the Loyalist ancestor..

Hello Jim Parish . I am the 6th great granddaughter of Isaac Justason. As of October 27, 2020 Isaac has now been officially deemed a UE. It took some time, but after submitting numerous forms and years of research i have proven him to be a Loyalist. He is mentioned in books, memorial papers and documents He will be added to the list soon. It has to be updated and i am in close contact with the NB Branch while the process continues. Any questions about Isaac, please feel free to contact me through my email. I hope this sets the record straight for everyone, especially his descendants.
