Newbie's roots deep in Scotland; how to assure correct merge and next steps

My family tree took me to Robert Elliot(t) the Emigrant who is from the Eliot Clan of Scotland and Elliott's of Midlem Mill. Is my tree merged with theirs since I was able to merge the Elliott's past my great-great-great grandfather to WikiTrees already in existence? Is there other steps that I need to take to be merged into that Elliott family tree? Should I have a DNA test to verify? Any and all help is welcome (including if this is the wrong category to ask these questions).

Thank you!

I think you may actually mean "connecting" and "connected" to the main Tree, because "merge" here means something different.

When there are two (or more) profiles for the same person, they need to be merged so we have only one profile for each person.

When I have a profile for my great-great-grandfather and find his wife and children already have profiles on WikiTree, I connect his profile to theirs.

Welcome to wikitree.  Remember on wikitree, there is only ONE tree.  We all share the same ancestors, so duplicate profiles should not be created for each person.

You entered Warren Elliott and connected him to parents of John Elliott and Mary Ann Barnes.  Unfortunately, there was a Warren already in 'our' tree, so I have proposed a merge of those two records.

By connecting your ancestors to a profile that already exists in wikitree, you have connected all of them to that family.  You added Milford, who was a child of Warren that was not added already to wikitree, so that's great that you added another child and at least, some of his descendants.

I added Header records to a couple of profiles that were missing them.  Looking at the Amanda profile, it does look the same as the other profile, but Elizabeth is probably her mother and an unknown person, so she was probably 'illegitimate' and brought up by Elizabeth's parents since it looks like they were still having children at the same time.
