How does one get information from others on G2g?

I've been using G2G without knowing that the Qs and As could be used for deep information, as I now think the site intends.

My use has been random as has been the simple stating of what I think is useful information OR getting useful things from others' notes. I'd like to be ABLE  to use it to "share information that might be Valuable to others" and to get information from it AND to know others are using it in that way.

Ales [with a tiny carot over the s] and also to others: Do you all have use of a method to give a brief indication about a message's topic? Seems to me that that's important to find what we need in others' efforts and to state information we have so that others can know or accurately infer its suggested uses for something written in G2G.

In essence: What do you know that I don't know about this?  --Sounds like "there's something!" for sure.

You are doing it, or else like Dennis I don't understand what you are asking.

I find that a well-worded question/header helps to attract attention.

This is merely a Question and Answer forum.

Questions are asked, and Answers are given.

have I misunderstood what you are trying to ask??

I'm not sure exactly what you have in mind as "deep" information, but it's all free-form text that permits you to post whatever you want as a question or answer.  The bold header ("the question in one sentence") is intended to be the brief indication of the topic.  The categories listed to the right (pick one for your question) are broad, general groupings of subject matter.  You can add tags to a question to attract a specific audience interested in that tag.  And there's a "Search G2G" box at the top of the page which might be helpful if you're looking for key words or phrases (but my results with it have been mixed).  You can also use Google to search the forum.

Roberta,

I don't know the secrets either. It seems some get answers quick and others with similar posts get ignored.

Tags are used to get the attention of others. You could try changing some of your tags by adding a couple surnames you are working on or using "mentors" or "profile_improvement".

What gets answered and what doesn’t is mostly luck of the draw - who happens to be looking when a question is posted, who follows the tags, whether the question is fairly simple, whether it’s about a place or time where many share an interest or there is good documentation, and so on.
