If it is him you will need to find the correct birth record for him. You have Texas, census has Ar (Arizona?)

AR = Arkansas
AR = Arkansas, AZ = Arizona, AK = Alaska, AL = Alabama

 these are the USPS abbreviation style for each state in United States ...

Before these were introduced it would have been Ark., Ariz., and Ala., and I don't recall the one for Alaska or you could write it out, but that got tedious with Mississippi, Connecticut, Massachusetts, and a few others
Thanks to everyone who've answered so far. When many eyes and brains are looking, we should be able to come up with the answer. Additional info concerning where he was born. If this IS the correct family, he WAS born in Arkansas. On the Censuses for 1900, 1910, 1920, 1930, it shows Texas, and Alabama for his father, Arkansas for his mother. That's why I put Texas as his POB. It is possible that, with no written record, he didn't know for sure where he was born. And, while he was in Kaufman, he could have asked his mother, Vian (if she is) where he was born and later forgot. Or the enumerator didn't ask or he asked the wife who may not have known. Also, back in the day, when children were born at home, no official state type records were made. Another reason I think this is the correct family is that Vian (Vienna) was living with her son, John, only 18 'houses' away from Robert V in 1880. I'm still looking every place I can think of. Another big question is WHEN he was born. Censuses 1860, 1870, 1880 calculate his birth 1850 or 1852, later ones calculate to 1855 or 1856. His grave marker has 1856. Like I said, if there's no written record official or otherwise, we can't be positive. And on it goes...
