Hi, I'm quite knew to finding info on my ancestors, but what is very interesting about your question is the following:  My mother told me that her grandfather had been sent to St. Helena during the Anglo Boer War.  My grandfather's name was Karl Ernest Albrecht born 1903. I don't know what was my great grandfathers names.  What is also interesting is that I have family also in the Meyer family tree, but on my father's side. My great grandmother's surname was Meyer. (I'm from South-Africa)

If Anglina Meyer found herself alone with children in South Africa under the circumstances you describe then it is highly likely that she will have returned to family in her ancestral home. Given the name Meyer this was probably Bavaria.

I would start by seeking her father and mother on www,germanroots.com as they could all have travelled home as a group and this site has immigration resources.

Good luck

Hi John

thank you so much for your help

since i posted the question i found out that she died just after the birth of her second child, which was just before the 2nd Anglo Boer war. her husband was sent as a POW to Bermuda. there is no further information as to what happened to her two small children.
Hi Carol

Thanks for prompt response. How sad.

Just spotted my mistake.

Website should be www.germanroots.com - poor typing at first attempt.

Young children were probably take in by grandparents on one side or other.

Regards

John
Hi Carol

I just spotted a lot of Meyer in Cape and wonder if Angelina's family came from there. If you think this is possable have a look at :-
