This profile provides the connection of the Borthwick and Oliphant families.   As indicated, it may be that this person is attached to the wrong husband, or her father is the wrong William.   More research is needed....anyone up for it?

The descendants won't match if Borthwick-597 merged into Borthwick-128 (Oliphant connection).     Jack

Robin,  I am researching this line......do you consider the descendants satisfactory?....... what are the boundaries ,you would consider, I work within and who would be my contact people?     Jack

The more recent volumes of The Scots Peerage, edited by James Balfour Paul have no mention of a woman from the Borthwick family marrying into the Oliphant family.

See vol. 6, p. 537 where there is no mention of a wife for Sir John Oliphant at all and in vol. 2, p. 96-97 no mention of an unnamed daughter of William Borthwick, whether it is meant to be William, 1st Lord Borthwick or his father.

Back on vol. 6, p. 535 there is a discussion about a genealogy from 1580 which does name a Sir John Oliphant (Schir Johnne mareit with the hous of Borthuik) but the conclusion reached seems to be the genealogy has too many generations and that even if the women mentioned only by their surnames did exist, "they cannot be properly dated or distributed", presumably meaning they can't be aligned with particular Oliphant husbands.

This sounded familiar. In 2019, I took the profile from an unsourced gedcom import, formatted into a bio with sentences, added sources, disconnected unsupported parents, and added research notes for what seemed to be incorrect past conclusions, such as the given name being Filia. Let me know if any of that research was a miss.
