My mother was born in 1952 in Montreal and subsequently adopted by American parents in 1953. My mother passed away in 2017 and, unfortunately, the Provence of Quebec has told me she would have been the only person (other than her birth mother) entitled to the information. I have some information from the orphanage (La Creche de la Misericorde) but nothing identifying. The social summary states that her mother was 32 years old and was a nurse; the father was 23 years old and worked in a meat market. The summary also states that the father's family knew nothing of the pregnancy and that the father himself was not contacted by the orphanage. My mother's name at birth was Marie Carole Ginette Giroux, however, I've been told that is probably a fake name given to her by either the nuns or the nurses.
