Looking for information about Thomas Marson who was born in the UK around 1841 and died in Christchurch, NZ 1909

My Great-great grandfather. I have info on his death in 1909 in Christchurch NZ but there is no information on his emigration from the Uk to NZ or his birth and parents.

There are two Thomas marsons I've found born in 1941, but it is unclear which one is my greatest great grandfather

Well we need more information. Do you have any estimate as to when he emigrated? What part of the country he might have been from? Was he married or did he marry in NZ? Link to marriage record? Link to census records in NZ that you know are him? Occupation? Names of children?

He was apparently married in 1872 to Anne Watson Couper. Possibly in Christchurch, but I have also been told that he was married when he arrived in NZ (Although we can't find any record of a Thomas Marson of the right age arriving in NZ either, so we're unable to authenticate either claim).

He was a farm labourer in NZ. He died in 1909 at the age of 68 (Reported in CHC paper) after being struck in the head by a piece of farm machinery (A Hay Lift I believe).

He had at least 5 children. Emily Grace, Louisa, Thomas R G, William J, and Henry Francis Marson.

Have you purchased a copy of his death registration 1909/7408? Order the printout, as it should be a copy of the record. This should give you a lot of the information you require, as long as the informant knew the information. It won’t give you the children’s names, just their age and gender, and while it will give approximate time in NZ, it won’t state the ship. In terms of parentage, is there a hint in the children’s names if all else fails?
