If you haven't, WikiTreer Roberta Estes has...

"GEDmatch has just introduced a great new tool – automated tree matching. You’ll find it under the “Find common ancestors (MRCA) from DNA matches” on the application menu under Tier 1 tools which are available for a $10 monthly subscription. (Yes, you can subscribe month by month.)"

An alternative is to invite your matches in GEDmatch to have their ancestry in WikiTree and then you will be able to find common ancestors for free (without having to pay the a monthly $10 Tier 1 fee).  Since WikiTree is a shared tree with one profile per person, there is no need for automated matching of duplicate trees.

If a testee’s GEDmatch ID is added to their DNA Tests page in WikiTree then a “Wiki” link will automatically appear on GEDmatch’s One-to-many matching report which links to their compact 8 generation ancestral tree in WikiTree.

Peter, there's no way around inviting them to enable this (due to the privacy restrictions that were changed 2 years ago or so), right?

What I mean is that if we go ahead and add their path to the MRCA in WikiTree ending with them as a private person (and ancestors as private if they are living as well), will it be still automatically identified as MRCA if we add their GEDmatch ID?
Hello Andreas,

Since GDPR went into effect, WikiTree only lets you add DNA information for yourself and testees who have died.

Sincerely,

After comparing with 981 kits, I get 0 matches. :-(

I may be misunderstanding your comment but this video shows you how to find every match you have in GEDmatch who also is a WikiTree user (and should have their ancestry in WikiTree):

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=1NgD9b3s0Gs

I used the the tool over at GEDmatch in Mags's OP. It had nothing to do with whether they were Wikitree users. There were 981 kits with trees fitting the thresholds set by the tool, and not a single person in a single one of those trees was even a weak match to the people in my tree.
I had the same problem.  0 results.  I am sure one of those 10,000 compared must have uploaded their tree like I did.  Not sure it is working.
I just tried again for a third time, and it worked. I decided to update my GEDCOM right before running it for the first time. Maybe that was the issue. But I did wait a full day and try again and it still didn't work. It has been about 40 hours now since I updated the GEDCOM, and the tool now works for me.
I got the same results . I have better luck using FTDNA Family finder and entering familial surnames in the name search bar . Then after opening their tree entering that name in the tree search and viola you not only have a match you know WHO the most possible connection is, as long as everyone's tree is correct . FTDNA excepts free DNA uploads and a modest fee to use Family finder. They also have a chromosome browser .

I had just seen this mentioned recently, but haven't had a chance to try it out.  When I went to Gedmatch, they had a notice along the line of being overwhelmed and working to get it back up again:

A blockbuster program was introduced July 1 in Tier1: "Find most recent common ancestors (MRCA) from DNA matches". You need to have a family tree uploaded to use this program.

Due to overwhelming demand there are times when this program is down. We apologize and ask for your patience while we make improvements.

Wow, https://yourDNA.family (the DNA genealogy app I wrote) has this blockbuster (not my words) feature since years.

I'm obviously biased but I find our version more visually appealing (sorry for the small size, had to resize twice due to WT restrictions):

Our first 7 generation MRCA

You can see it here in it's 2048 px beauty: https://imgur.com/gallery/x3pMxS5

Out of 940 kits I have 11 possible MRCA’s when using default settings.  Two of these are correct and previously known.  This is a good tool.  I hope that more of my matches upload pedigrees reaching earlier than 1800.

An oddity:  One of my ancestors, a woman, was correctly identified as shared with a dna match of mine.  This ancestor had a husband in the tree of my dna match as well as in mine.  When I ran the tool for my dna match, the husband was found but not his wife.
