Robert Richard Mackinson Innes born 1855 Inverness. Immigrated to New Zealand. Anyone have any info?

I have searched the NZ Historical BDM indexes. Didn't exactly find your man but did find the following entries which look they might be connected. Please bear in mind that the indexes are transcribed from the original handwritten records and as a result spelling interpretation can vary. First reference numbers are the year.

Marriage 1906/3553  Robert John Dunbar Innes married Elizabeth Ann Taylor

Birth 1910/17655 Robert Richard Dakinson Innes (Child of the above marriage)

Death 1952/22758 Robert John Dunbar Innes Aged 74 yrs.

Death 1993/36751 Robert Richard Makinson Innes born 9 April 1910.

Glad to be of help. Found the above two on the electoral rolls. They lived in Canterbury province. Latterly in Christchurch city where I live.

Hi Dianne,

The marriage of Robert Rrichard Mackinson Innes is not on the historical BDM site.

It only covers marriages 80 years prior, however I do have a CD which covers NZ marriages up to 1956. In 1935 the following marriage is listed;

Robert Richard Nakison Innes to Ngaire Leila Lewis

This matches his wife's first names on trhe electoral rolls.

Another variation on his third name!

The only problem with that is that his son Murray was born in 1928!  So I wonder if it is his 2nd wife.

I found Ngaire's death memorial and she was born in 1917 and died in 2010.

What information do you have on this son Murray born in 1928?

Robert Richard M Innes was born on 9 April 1910 which means he would have been 17 or 18 when the child was born and younger when it was conceived and unlikely to have been married then??

If you give me all the details you have on Murray I will see what I can find out for you.

Murray Alexander Innes born 1928 New Zealand died 1995 in Christchurch NZ.  He married June Lord.

I was told Murray's father was Robert Innes originally from Inverness, Scotland.

Murray and June had 2 kids:  Elizabeth and John.

Hi Dianne,

I have looked up the historical death index's which states that Murray Alexander Innes was born 11 Nov 1928.

RRM Innes was born 9 April 1910. If Murray was his son he would have been born when he was 18 years 7 months old and if Murray was a full term baby his father would have been 17 years 11 months at conception.

Murray's death is historical and his death certificate can be ordered online for NZD $20.40, which should gives his parents names etc.

If you don't want to do this let me know and I will try and get into the temporary central library repository. There are two possibilities. His birth notice may or may not be in the newspaper in 1928 or if he was baptised it may be among those being transcribed. That could give his parentage.

I just heard from the Innes family and they said Murray's mother was Elizabeth Ann Taylor and Robert RMakinson was Murray's brother, so  Robert John Dunbar might be Murray's father.

Murray's dau said that she was named after Eliz Anne Taylor and she was from Wales.

I was told Ngaire who married Robert RMakinson Innes was married to Murray's brother so hope    helps.

It seems that Rob John Dunbar Innes might have been  Murray's father but he would have been very mature when Murray was born.  So Eliz must have been a lot younger!
I found an Elizabeth Anne Taylor in the same cemetery plot as Rob John Dunbar Innes so it must be his wife although it says she was born in Waddington NZ.
