There was no official statewide registration of births and deaths in Tennessee before 1908. Four cities did keep some earlier birth and death records (Chattanooga, Knoxville, Nashville, and Memphis), which are available through the Tennessee State Library & Archives.

This means that finding a more specific date of birth for Bedford Thomason may be a bit more difficult.  Perhaps you might find it listed on his Grave Marker.  Have you tried findagrave.com ?

I have been unable to locate a death record for Bedford, which would likely give you a date of birth - although this is considered a secondary source and might not be accurate.  I do know that he lived into the 20th century because he and Jennie are enumerated in the 1900 Census in Ozark County, Missouri.

Hi,

You probably know by now that on Find-a-grave there is a headstone stating 9 Oct 1928 for Bedford F. Thomason.

Both Find-a-Grave and details on MyHeritage indicate that his wife's name was Jenny Lucy James (m. Dec 1883). They had 8 children possibly.

Bedford Forrest Thomason was also my great grandfather, his youngest son Arthur Richard Thomason is my grandfather. Arthur is also the youngest of 8 children, my father is named after Bedford, his name is Forrest.

The headstone states the date of birth being in October 9, 1864. and his death October 19, 1928. He dropped dead on his way into his work place. I have a copy of death certificate and his death notice posted in the paper at that time.

On his death certificate it states that he was born in Nashville Tennessee.

His find a grave memorial is managed by myself. I have a couple of pictures posted on this.
