Harry Dalziel was an ANZAC who was awarded the Victoria Cross, the Commonwealth's highest award for gallantry in the face of the enemy, for actions at Hamel Wood in 1918. Armed only with two revolvers (and since nicknamed 'Two-Gun' Harry), Harry captured a machine gun post and also gathered much sought-after ammunition to his mates under fire. In 1949, Harry mailed his VC to (then) Princess Elizabeth as a birth gift for her firtsborn son, Prince Charles. Together with a beautiful, hand-written, two-page reply thanking him profusely was the response that she could not possibly deprive him of the medal. The 15th Battalion was a unit of ANZAC at Gallipoli and II ANZAC at the Western Front.
