why arent there any records

IM still looking for birth or death records or dates for gg he was born in la joya momax Zacatecas between 1868-70, parents victor modesto Magallanes and maria nabor del real, from what we know he had a 2nd marriage to dolores diaz (1892 dob) from possible la capilla momax Zacatecas or tulimique Jalisco, it would have been between 1922 and 1929 ( that is the reason his daughter Victoria ) married she had first child 1929, dolores and roman never had kids..  she remarried when he passed ( year unknown) to a luis

Ancestry has Momax civil death records for 1869-1915 and 1956-88. FamilySearch for death records for the Santo Tomas church in Momax from 1776 to 1841, and from 1925-56.

Why the gaps? A lot of possible reasons: perhaps the records simply were not microfilmed, and exist somewhere in the municipal or church archives. Perhaps they were mixed with another location (Tlaltenango may be a possibility since Momax was a branch of the church at Tlaltenango). Perhaps weather ... water from a leaking building destroyed records, or a flood. Perhaps a fire, or earthquake. Civil unrest? Perhaps they were just mistakenly discarded. Perhaps put in storage somewhere that people lost track of. It is always possible to try to contact the local authorities, either church or civil, but it is possibly more likely to get a response if done in person.

If you still have family in Zacatecas someone could visit the office that presently maintains the vital records and inquire.

thank you , we were there not long ago they claimed no information was there on him.  what I did find was that his brother canuto was born January 1871 , victor and maria had a compromise matrimonial in February of 1867, during that time was the marriage 30 days after if so roman was born in 68 or 69, ? maria would have been pregnant with canuto in 70?
