Which Hannah Baker married which Cornell, and an added bonus problem? [closed]

Question

Let's start with the added bonus problem: Susannah Baker is shown as the wife of Israel Baker (of Swansea), with a marriage date of 27 November 1742 (location unknown.) Her profile shows no birth date, no death date, just a marriage to Israel.

I find no record of marriage of Israel and Susannah on 27 November 1742 or any other date. No birth of a Susannah Baker at an appropriate time to be wife in 1740-42 for Israel is found.

What I do find are births of TWO Hannah Bakers in Rehoboth (Bristol, Mass.):

18 Dec 1722, Hannah I, d. of John and Susannah, and  29 Nov 1724, Hannah II, d. of Joseph and Margaret.https://www.americanancestors.org/DB190/i/14010/525/253490953/ Rehoboth V1, p. 525.]

Also found is the marriage: Israel Cornel [sic.] of Swansea m. Hannah Baker of Rehoboth, 27 November 1740. [https://www.aamericanancestors.org/DB190/i/13932/184/251747124/ Swansea V1, p. 184.] Notice the coincidence of the date with the supposed Susannah. I believe this is likely Hannah I daughter of John and Susannah, since Hannah II d. of Joseph and Margaret would be only 15 years old, 9 days short of 16 on that date.

Introducing another Cornell: Elisha, probably brother of Israel, but I haven't delved into this area at all.

There is a profile for Hannah II. Her birth is given as 1726, a guess that can be corrected.

My conclusions: Israel did not marry a Susannah Baker, and she should be disconnected from his profile (leaving a son Amos on her profile to sort out.) He did marry Hannah I, because of the reason above regarding the age of Hannah II had she married Israel. And finally, Elisha married Hannah II because she would be an appropriate age to marry at the time of Elisha's marriage.

I invite comments and constructive critiques.

I would leave wife Susannah Baker and assume marriage to Hannah is a transcription error.  Susanna's father John Baker left bequests in his will to daughter Susannah Cornell, and Israel Cornell signed the agreement with his wife.

Israel's will names wife Susannah, and his children: sons William and Amos, and daughters Elizabeth Chase/Chace and Susannah Chase/Chace. 

Added probate to his profile.

Hi Jim, I think your reasoning makes sense.  I am wondering, though, if the name Susannah was just mistaken and that her profile should just have her name changed to Hannah.  Have you determined if Amos' mother was in fact Susannah as opposed to Hannah?  It seems very possible that people just entered the wrong name, since Hannah was the daughter of Susannah . . .

Updated:  I found a record that people probably used for the profiles:  "The Baker Family of Rehoboth, Massachusetts" by Walter M. Baker, article published in "Rhode Island History", Vol. 18, No. 3, pp. 85-87, July 1959 by the Rhode Island Historical Society.  Walter Baker shows John Baker, son of John and Hannah (Polly) Baker, born in Woburn 27 June 1687; m. Swansea 17 Jun 1714 to Susanna Wood (daughter of Thomas & Rebecca Wood).  Among the children listed are:

• Susanna, born Swansea 3 Feb 1717/18; m 27 Nov 1740 Israel Cornell.
• Hannah, born Rehoboth 18 Dec 1722; m 13 Sep 1750 Elisha Cornell.

arrgh! a spanner in the works! But to make it all work, we need another Israel Cornwell, since we do have a definite Hannah Baker marrying an Israel. But for the time being, I'll be doing some digging to rule your discovery in or out or unknown! But thank you, really, for finding another possible solution.

Records of marriage (1762) and a bunch of children for Amos, but no record of parents. In Dartmouth, Bristol County, so a correct county for my drama. Back at it!

I can't access the links you provided to americanancestors.  It may be an internet issue on my end.  Are the links to the actual record, or is it a typed listing in a book?  The ones at Family Search are all typed listings, which makes me wonder if the transcriber entered Hannah when the record was Susannah.
