Hi.
I have a copy of a 1960's newspaper article about Charles Becker. At that time, he was living on his ranch at Westfall, Oregon, North of Harper Oregon, west of the the Malhuer County Oregon town of Vale.
My Grandfather acquired a set of gold scales Mr Becker used in his butcher shop at Westfall. Evidently, chinese immigrants were involved on a gold claim nearby, and needed to trade gold dust for beef at the trun of the century, about 1900. Becker was a distinguished Oregon pioneer, and was invited to dedication of the newly completed Oregon Highway 30 in 1923 by President Harding. He was a special guest and invited to sit with the presidential party during the ceremony.
