Is there any way to change old profiles that are "Public" to "Open"?

This profile was entered nearly 10 years ago by a PM whose tag indicates only "family member." She created 47 unsourced profiles in 2 days (October 2010) and never came back.

I'm trying to add YEAROUS profiles to this tree (I have over 500 of them, all sourced) and can tie Andrew in with his family, but I cannot add either his ancestors or his descendants to this profile. I have sent a PM, and I have left a comment on the page.

Is there any other way to get this profile changed to "Open"?

The Unresponsive Profile Manager Request form for Andrew Yearous is here:

https://www.wikitree.com/contact/upm/Yearous-1

There is room for an explanation about the other Yearous profiles that need attention.

Okay. I really can't call her "unresponsive" yet, since I just sent the message and left the comment. I doubt I will hear from her, although I might.

I just hope I don't forget to go check on this in two weeks! LOL!
I think the team member(s) who regularly take care of these requests will recognize the situation with a long-gone manager - even though the label "Unresponsive" is not perfectly accurate in this case. It will take some time - but if you are lucky it's less than two weeks. And you'll get a message.

Click on the "Family Tree & Tools" tab, scroll down to the "Contact" section, click on the "Open Profile Request" and follow the instructions:

I think they have to be born at least 150 years ago or died 100 years ago to qualify for opening. This one is 2 years away, unless you have a source for a death date of 1920 or earlier for him.
See my answer below.

Even if they die before the time limit where a profile has to be open, that doesn't mean a profile manager has to unlock the profile.

In this case, it is likely the profile's manager is unlikely to object, given inactivity since 2010, so unlocking it should not be an issue, but it is wrong for people to push for profiles to be opened simply on the basis the person is deceased.

My father is deceased and I have no intentions of opening his profile simply because he is dead.  We need to be less impatient because we have sources to add, or whatever, and be more aware that there may be reasons a profile is locked.

Agreed.  I hadn't considered it from that view point.  Thank you for suggesting it.  Probably it won't make any difference with his case.

There is a Social Security Death Index  on familysearch for an Andrew Yearous  in Jan. 1963, Iowa.  The estimated birth year is off by one year from his profile but I would bet the family farm it is his.  Ask for it to be opened using this information.

Yes, that's him. (That's he?) He also has a well-documented FAG {{FindAGrave | 71332660}}. I just need to have patience, which is something I'm not long on when I know I have a tie-in with other family members. I'll just "work around him" for the time being and set a calendar reminded to check back in a few weeks.

Thanks, everyone, for the help!
This is, of course, an alternative to FAG which many people do not see as a real reference if there is some thing else,  but I thought it would at least prove he was not still living so it could be open if there were no objections.  Just book mark it and come back on your birthday, or Halloween, or Christmas....

An alternative is to add a link to him in the biographies of the related individuals.  Use

[[Wiki-ID|name as you want it to read]]

Thus, it would read in edit mode

 [[Yearous-1|Andrew Yearous]]
