Need some help on how to proceed with attaching someone as a child

Hi everyone, recently joined this site and seems I've jumped right into the deep end :) I'm slowly finding sources etc for people in my tree on pc, and adding the people as i find the sources. In my tree  https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Burrell-2409

parents are Mary Horton (Horton-1928) & John Sharp (Burrell-838)

in her birth registration it has mary as mother & john as her father

but in her death registration it has mary hanlon as her mother and james burrell as her father

so i'm not quite sure on how to proceed with her entry

any help would be greatly appreciated,

thanks, Amanda

Are you certain you have the correct birth and death registrations?
Hi yes I'm pretty confident that they're the correct ones as she's the only one listed in the search results for those.years
Names are rather more frequently than we would like mis-entered.  Heard incorrectly. Given incorrectly because the informant didn't have the correct information. Transcribed incorrectly.  Simply written down incorrectly.

If you are certain the records apply to the person, explain why you think the records aren't correct in the biography.
That is true about names/information being mis-entered :)

I will put the info in reasearch notes on her page, but for now I won't attach to her parents from my tree onto here, until i get more proof that those are her actual parents and try to work out why theres twos different fathers listed as her father :) Thank you for your help :)

Just a note : == Research Notes ==  should go above the == Sources == header.

That way if you add sources to back up the research (should do this!), the sources won't generate DB errors aka suggestions.

ah okay thank you for that

Just another note (sorry, but you'll learn it better if you do it, than if I do it for you) -- those headers should all have just two = signs.  While you can use lesser headers, no header should be level one (using only 1 =).

that's okay as i said i'm only new to this site so i appreciate the help :) have fixed it on elizabeths profile and will go through all the others i have added and manage to make sure they are correct after i get some sleep.

thanks again for your help :)

Always happy to help if I can.  smiley
