How does one reverse a merge direction after the merge?   See post below.  This merge should have gone to MacDowall-1, but now MacDowall-1 instead reverts to McDowell-641.

On 19 Jul 2020 Jackie Stoddard wrote on McDowell-641:

sorry , it should have been merge of 641 into 1, same person

Once it is done, it is done.  MacDowall-1 is gone forever,

William, you have two different spellings of the surname there.  In that case the direction of a merge should be into the profile with the correct surname spelling, regardless of which is the lower number.  If the surname spelling of the resultant, McDowell, is incorrect, Jackie will now need to edit the LNAB to show the correct spelling.
