She also traces back to a founder of Nantucket Island. . .

This type of ancestry seems to be common as well, Thomas Mayhew was a 12th ggf.

Sarah's ancestry went through Nantucket before getting to the Mayflower.  As soon as I saw the surname Macy (related to a Mayflower connection), I figured the descendant had an ancestor from Nantucket!

Thomas Mayhew is one of the few founders that I don't have as an ancestor, no doubt due to the fact that he didn't live on Nantucket and thus wasn't a part of all of the inter-marriages.

This seems like a good opportunity to plug the new Nantucket Founders project.  We'd love new members that are interested in developing and adding profiles.

Yes and I think people don't tend to realize just how few people actually lived in America around that time. These people made more people and so on - literally tens of millions of descendants today. Esp if you had ancestry in that New England area around that time, you might actually have a high probability of being a descendant of these folks. Still, as commonplace as that ancestry is, the history is interesting if you get into it.

There are definitely many Mayflower-descendant profiles in need of development as well. You'd think after 500 years, descendants would already be fairly well documented for a few generations down. Possibly elsewhere, or in private trees, but not so much yet on wikitree.

Francis Cooke, Edward Fuller, and Richard Warren are all 10X GGrandfathers of mine.  Go figure; 3 on the Mayflower.

More than one out of ten Americans are direct descendants of Mayflower passengers. Remarkable.
Wow 1 out of 10 is high. Interesting!

In 2018 the Mayflower Society estimated that as many as 10 million living Americans might have Mayflower ancestry. That is about 3%, not 10%, but still an impressive number.
