Pieter Monfoort (born 1689) of Long Island, New York, is currently connected to 3 sons named Pieter or Peter. The unsourced Peter born in 1715 can be presumed to have died in childhood. That leaves two other P[i]eters, both of whom allegedly grew up to marry [both to the same woman] and have children. I am hoping that the various descendants who have edited profiles for this family can help determine whether there were two other P[i]eters (one born in 1725 who died young and one born in 1729 who grew up) or just one.
Both of these profiles have shown very specific birth data, but no good sources for that birth. I found and cited a Dutch church record for the July 4th 1725 baptism in Jamaica, Long Island, New York, of Pieter Monfoor (the second son P[i]eter) so I am confident that this Pieter was real. The third son Peter is supposed to have been born in Hempstead, Long Island, New York, on 8 Feb 1729. I did not find him in the online records for the Anglican church in Hempstead, nor in the Jamaica Dutch church records where I found the child baptized in 1725, and I am not sure where else to look. Only one son Peter is mentioned in the book of the history of the Oyster Bay congregation where this family was active, and that book does not give dates for the births of any children of this family.
So can anyone shed light on the origin of the birth information for the son Peter born in 1729, or otherwise clarify whether the son Pieter born in 1725 died young or grew up to marry? (Note that the dates for the children are consistent with the father being born in either 1725 or 1729.)
