Question

I am looking for descendants of Tsihene (baptized as Jacques René Massia). He was known under many other names, including possibly Tsahouanhos. His descendants took the name Massia (also with various spellings including Mathias). My maternal grandmother was a Massia.

Jacques Rene Tsihene Massia married Anne Mouflet dit Champagne in 1696.  He took on the name  Massia after Ann Mouflet's husband Mathias Chatouteau was killed in the Lachine Massacre of 1689.  They had two children together that I know of.  Marie Catherine (Tshiene) Massia/Mathias.  And Paul Mathias Tsihene dit Massia.  Who I am a descendant of.  The spelling changes from generation to generation.  Paul and Marie Angelique Huneault had at least 8 children I know of.  If I can help you out with anything, feel free to ask.  I do have more info on some of Tsihene/Massia descendants.

I am also a descendant of Paul Massia (Joseph>Joseph>François>Narcisse>Narcisse). Because of the repeated names, maybe, and also because they moved a lot and both first and last names were transcribed from the oral to French to English and sometimes back to French etc., I spot some mistakes or unreliable information in the trees I find online. For example, women supposedly giving birth impossibly late in their lives.
