New member introducing myself--Kroll/Lant/Olson/Atno family ties

Hello Tree House!

I'm just getting started in my genealogy journey. I'm working on building out my initial tree of my siblings, spouse, parents and grandparents. Beyond that, my information is quite limited as my family really only has clear details on my maternal grandmother's history.

I am most diligently exploring my paternal grandfather's family, the Krolls, and my maternal grandfather's family, the Olsons. Both are early 20th century immigrant families (Krolls most likely from Bavaria/Austria, Olsons from Sweden).

I currently live in Charlotte, NC, but my family's history is primarily from the NJ/NY region. My husband's family history (Weissenbergers) are primarily from southern California.

Just make sure you document, document, document. I have an easier tree to climb since I only had two branches that emigrated in the 20th century, but I failed to do more than collect names and dates, and wound up having to do research over and over again. I also made many mistakes along the way due to shaky assumptions.

But just from the way you wrote your introduction I have a feeling that you are pretty no-nonsense and are taking it step-by-step.

That is awesome! Genealogy is a fun topic to study, but remember to document information of a topic. As I go by, I try to find more than one document or record containing similar information before using it, because although you may think a name is pretty standoffish, you would be surprised how many people carry the same names.

Also I am related to the Kroll family as my mother was a Kroll, cousins?! Lol! Big family the Kroll’s Are.
