Any Australian military historians? WW2. 2/125 AUST BRIGADE WORKSHOPS?

Hi folks,

I just came across this 'posting' for a Australian WW2 soldier..."2/125 AUST BRIGADE WORKSHOPS" but I have been unable to find any public references as to what role the brigade played. Would there be any military historians out there who could explain this brigade's duties? Thanks in advance.

Brigade Workshop Companies were units of the Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (today's RAEME), so they were mostly tradesmen who made and repaired all sorts of military equipment, including weapons (armourers).  The 2/125th was attached to a Brigade headquarters, as opposed to an infantry battalion, artillery regiment, etc.  The 2/125th was based at Balikpapan, Borneo at the end of the Second World War and tasked with removing equipment from Japanese underground workshops (https://www.awm.gov.au/collection/C197726).  I'm trying to ascertain which Brigade the 2/125th Workshops were attached to.

The 7th Division was the Aussie division at Balikpapan, so the 2/125th would have been attached to either the 18th Brigade, 21st Brigade or 25th Brigade.  Still trying to confirm which one, Ken.  BTW, you have a great name.
