I am writing a full bio for person 242 Edward Hammond Hargraves in my tree.  If I add a <ref> it will not display anything beyond it.

Your first inline citation wasn't closed properly. I fixed it - hope you don't mind (seemed easier than explaining)!

Post back if it still looks incorrect.

To learn how to create an inline citation,

1. copy your source citation first,

2. position your cursor where you want to place the citation.

3. select the 'C' or 'cite your source' at the end of the icon list above the biography. That will put the starting and ending 'ref' entries into your biography where your cursor was, with 'insert reference here' highlighted between the 'ref' entries.

4.  'paste' and it should replace that highlighted text.

I think Lindy's comment is worth to be an answer.

Don't want to steal her credit, but for completeness:

A reference starts with <ref> and ends with </ref>. This reference will generate a text on the location of the <references /> tag containing 'and ends with '.

Lindy has added the '</ref>' tag to the end of the reference. Let's all thank her for that!

I assume that you, Julia,  are still working on the formatting. May I suggest working on the large blocks of information (ie. Mortgage.. and chronology of information)
It is an impressive read so far!
I am not, but I am sure Julia will!
