There is an ebook online titled "The Hovey Book, describing the English ancestory and American descendants of Daniel Hovey of Ipswitch Massachusetts" published in 1913 that mentions Silas Hovey born 1781 in Connecticut.  It was unkown at that time in 1913 who the parents of that Silas Hovey were.

Silas Hovey may be the son of Daniel Hovey, born 1736, but the evidence is vague.  We know that the grandchildren of Ezra Hovey, Daniel's son, lived with Mithias, the son of Silas in 1851.  Two other facts seem to confirm a relationship,
