Relationships finder

Question

I don't understand the relationship finder. Where it says "no relationship found between Sissy Bellow Gerbig and George Gerbig Sr." My profile is Bellow-17. Can't remember his off hand. But we are married to each other. Please explain.

What I suspect from looking at your profile is that you haven't added your marriage info. Your profile says "daughter of," "sister of," but it doesn't say "wife of." Go to your edit tab and on the right-hand side of the page go down to your husband's name. Just beneath his name in small print it says "edit marriage to..." Click on that phrase and add your marriage info on the next page. You may need to wait until tomorrow for it to show up in the relationship finder. If this doesn't take care of the issue, perhaps others will be able to tell you something else to try.

Marriages don't show on non-open profiles (ie members).

You may be right, Melanie. And, now that I think more about it, the relationship finder is only looking for blood relationships, so Sissy should be using the connection finder to detect their marriage. The relationship finder wouldn't show them as related unless they actually shared a common ancestor. Right?

Yeah .. the relationship finder is for genealogical (i.e. blood) relationships.  A marriage is a connection, but the connection finder won't say husband/wife, it just says 1 step.  To see the "(her husband)" or "(his wife)" you need more than just two people in the trail.

Also - what one sees on one's own private view (available to anyone on that profile's Trusted List) is NOT what the rest of us see.
