Valid Email Address not accepted.

Question

The Internet Standard for an Email Username states:
USERNAME(local part)
The username, or local part, can consist of up to 64 characters long, and consist of any combination of letters, numbers, and other AASCII 7bit special characters. Periods are acceptable as long as they are not the first or last characters, and they are not consecutive. Therefore, the email  in question: "g.simon@domain-name", conforms to the internet standard, and should be acceptable to Wikitree.

Nope, the ".com", is part of the "domain-name", and could be any number of variations, such as: ".org", ".net", ".edu", ".gov", ".mil".  In this case it is actually ".com", but I didn't want to include the full email address in my question.  The part that wikitree is rejecting is the "period", between the"g" and "simon".  that is acceptable according tto Internet Standards, and works everywhere except on wikitree.

Looks like you will have to email info @ wikitree.com for assistance.  Could be there's a glitch somewhere.

WikiTree rejects an e-mail address if it is already associated with an existing member account.  Could that be the case here?
