Thank you Wikitree

2020 has been a bit tough for all of us but I am grateful for many things today.

I would like to thank wikitree for bringing many good people and things into my life.  I wrote a profile on my 4x GG Joseph Shaylor over two years ago.  He was a soldier in the American Revolution and I wanted to honor him here (cousin bait).  It was a wide net that I cast but it brought me something wonderful.  I was contacted by a distant cousin who has been researching Joseph for many years and provided me with the exact proofs I need to prove his son (my 3x GG) Thomas in my application to DAR which is being submitted to the national organization soon.

The second thing I am grateful for is my health and the excellent doctors who are helping me fight breast cancer.  I was diagnosed in January and I have not been very active here since then.  I am grateful for my husband, family and friends and I know I am blessed.

I am back.  I am looking forward to collaborating and participating in the community.  It really is a very special place and I have missed it.

Hi Caryl..... and best wishes for your ongoing health......I am wondering if you had researched the Blennerhassett family as it is one I am studying.    Jack
by John Thompson G2G6 Pilot (346k points)
Thanks John.  Sorry I don't know Blennerhassett family but I really like the name.  Best of luck with your research.
Our common ancestor, John, has his grand children, William and Audrey, marrying each other (both our ancestors, but notice William also has two other wives) and two of their respective children marry each other......there.....as straight as I can tell it without getting my tongue tangled up in the typewriter keys.
John can you give me the wikitree id for this guy?  I am intrigued.  I love discovering new connections.
(John) Blennerhassett-2

Very cool!  I have not done much research outside of the Harrison family in Virginia on this line.  Definitely haven't looked across the pond.  Well you have given me something fun and new to dig into.  Thanks Cousin! heart

You're welcome......I'm gathering up the Blennerhassett family and investigating where more of the branches can be connected.....anybody else, out there, related to this family ?

Once again, Wikitree bringing cousins together! yes

And Janine......Hi cousin!
John, I've got Francis Blennerhassett from Kent, Eng. who married into the Mann family and who's children are PGM arrivals at Watertown. Does this pertain to your inquiry?  I haven't tried to research her yet.

Edited for clarity.
Yes....Leigh Anne......Your ancestor, Frances Blennerhassett, is the result of Caryl's ancestor, Audrey, getting together with my ancestor,William, and not to forget, they're our ancestors starting with John Blennerhassett-2, and of course anyone else who joins in.......There!.....did I get that right?            Cousin Jack    PS   Hope we all keep in touch.

Great news on finding your cousin!

Sorry to hear about the BC, hope that you are doing well, and have been able to ring the bell.

Thanks Kay.  I did ring the bell in April!
Great. I rang the bell about 2.5 years ago.

Hello, Caryl,

Keep your chin up, 9th cousin!  Wikitree has introduced so many distant relatives to each other -- we are related through the Hosmers.

Nice to meet you Janine.  I love the Hosmer and the Buckingham line.  You remind me, I need to do some work on Thomas Buckingham's profile that I intended to do last year. Thanks for your support!
I am thinking of you during this time.

Caryl:

It is great to hear that you are feeling better. I wish all the best to you during your recovery. The hard work and generosity of your distant cousin sounds amazing. As your 10th cousin twice removed, (we are both descendants of John Cotton), I would like to wish you the best of luck in your DAR application.
