One must manually add their ancestors first by creating profiles, adding parents, grandparents and great grandparents until one of those ancestors finds a connection!!
Wikitree does NOT autopopulate the tree like other places do.
You could also upload a GEDCOM as well - but the process for checking all those names is very long and boring - and I personally think that doing it manually is much faster.
