You can add the adopted child template to profiles of those who were adopted, especially if they also have their biological parents attached.

If the biological parents are not attached, but the adopted person is linked to the adoptive parents, you can mark the relationship as non-biological in edit mode (and explain in the biography - you should always explain things in the biography).  smiley

Hi John, I don' t understand your question.

If you want to adopt an orphan profile, go to the section "No profile manager" and then right next to it push on the term "adopt this profile". Then you are the profile manager.

Or do you mean something else?

I was adopted at birth, so my name was changed, How do I show this on Wikitree? There seems to be no facility for recording adoptions and incorporating them into a tree.

You could, as I suggested, check the adopted child template.

You could also add the tags : adoption and adoption_angels (be sure to use the underscore) to your question.

I think what you are ultimately looking for is found here: Help:Adoptions and Multiple Parents.

"WikiTree only allows a person to have one mother and one father. This provides the basic structure for family trees."

There are ways to include information on biological or adoptive parents, it just depends on how you choose to provide that information.

For instance, you could connect your profile to your biological parents (helpful for DNA) and then use the Adopted Child template to indicate your adopted family and link to their tree.

Alternatively, you could connect to your adopted family and then make reference to your biological parents using the same template noted above.
